The development comes amid tension and violence reported in Osun State ahead of the gubernatorial election.

Ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun State, women in the state have demanded a free and fair election, declaring that they want "elections, not war."

The women made their demand during a march on Monday, where they called for peace ahead of the poll.

"We want elections, not war," the women, who marched while holding leaves, chanted.

They asked that authorities ensure peaceful conduct of the elections while stating that they were only concerned about voting but not violence.
