A socio-political movement, General Gbasky Movement, has urged major political parties and stakeholders in Osun State to promote issue-based campaigns and ensure a peaceful governorship election on August 15.

The group called on political parties, security agencies, religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women organisations to work together toward a violence-free electoral process.

Speaking at a summit held at Leisure Spring Hotel Hall, Osogbo, with the theme, “Mobilising for Unity, Progress and Grassroots Development,” the Convener of the movement, Hon. Olufemi Aponbiede, said the gathering was aimed at fostering unity among stakeholders and promoting peace before, during and after the election.

Aponbiede said elections are temporary, but the unity and development of communities should remain a lasting priority.
