US Open ticket prices are climbing ahead of this year’s final Grand Slam, even as injuries have raised questions about whether ATP’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will be healthy enough to compete.
With 20 days until the tournament begins, the average get-in price is $322, up from $256 at the same point last year, according to TicketData. The average get-in price has increased 17.3% over the past 30 days, and has been steadily rising for roughly two months, up from an average of $260 at the beginning of June.
Uncertainty around the tournament’s biggest stars grew Sunday, when Sinner withdrew from the Cincinnati Open because of an issue with his right knee.
“After consulting with my doctors and my team, I have to announce that I need to withdraw from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati,” Sinner said in a statement. “My right knee has been bothering me and even though we have been working hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I’m not ready to compete yet.”
Sinner said he is now focused on getting ready for the US Open, which begins Aug. 30, but his status for the tournament remains uncertain.
