Four fishermen from Mallipattinam had a miraculous escape as their boat developed a snag mid-sea on Monday. They were rescued by fellow fishermen from Mallipattinam who were fishing nearby and brought to the shore safely.Inquiries reveal that the boat in which the four fishermen – Kathalingam, Veeraiyan, Lakshmanan and Ranjith – ventured into the sea suddenly developed a crack and seawater started entering the vessel. Their attempt to bring the vessel ashore failed and it started sinking.All of them jumped out and struggled to stay afloat. On seeing them struggling, another group of four fishermen from Mallipattinam, sailing in another vessel, saved them.Kathalingam, Veeraiyan, Lakshmanan and Ranjith were safely brought to the shore and were sent home after undergoing first aid treatment at a Mallipattinam hospital.The Fisheries Department officials and the Coast Police were investigating, sources said.
