Two fishermen Tammu Pothuraju ((59) and Nagidi Ramu (25), natives of Nagayalanka in Krishna district, drowned when their motorised fishing boat overturned near Antarvedi due to heavy gales at sea on Monday.The bodies of the two fishermen were traced and retrieved. Another fisherman Nagidi Venkateswara Rao, suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment. Three other fishermen who were on the boat managed to turn the capsized boat and sailed back to shore safely.The incident occurred when six fishermen, ventured into sea in their motorised fishing boat on Sunday, following the lifting of the seasonal ban. When their boat reached the Antarvedi sea coast on Monday, it was struck by heavy gales and capsized. All the six fishermen were thrown into the sea.While three fishermen managed to regain control of the capsized vessel and returned safely to shore, fisherman Nagidi Venkateswara Rao suffered injuries and two fishermen Mr. Ramu a native of Gullamoda village, and Mr. Pothuraju a native of Sangameswaram village drowned and were later traced and retrieved.Commissioner (Fisheries) Rama Shankar Naik said that the bodies would be handed over to the families after post-mortem procedures. “The government will pay compensation to the families,” the Commissioner added.Meanwhile, Fisheries Minister K. Atchannaidu spoke with the Fisheries Department officials and enquired into the boat mishap. He directed the officials to provide better treatment to the injured fisherman.
