Mark Zuckerberg wants to give every person on Earth their own superintelligent AI assistant. And he’s willing to spend a billion dollars on the neighborhoods that make it all possible.
Meta announced a $1 billion initiative called the “Future Is For Everyone Fund” on August 10, 2026, targeting US communities located near the company’s data centers. The fund will channel money into schools, public services, first responders, and local programs in these areas. Alongside the fund, Zuckerberg published a strategic manifesto titled “The Future is for Everyone: The Path to a Positive AI Future,” laying out his case for what he calls “personal superintelligence,” accessible AI tools designed for billions of individual users rather than institutions.
What the fund actually does
The $1 billion commitment is directed at communities that bear the physical reality of Meta’s AI ambitions: the towns and parishes that host its sprawling data centers. Education spending, emergency services, environmental programs, and public infrastructure are all on the menu.
One example Meta highlighted: Richland Parish, Louisiana, where a Meta data center generated enough tax revenue to fund a $50,000 teacher bonus.
