Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) announced on Monday that it has reached the milestone of connecting 50,000 services to the grid. It has become the first electricity distribution company (DISCOM) among the three in the State to connect 50,000 services to the grid under the rooftop solar systems being implemented.Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh secured fourth position at the national level in the installation of rooftop solar systems. As part of its efforts to promote the use of non-conventional energy resources, APSPDCL has accelerated the works to make solar power available to SC and ST families. It also focussed on installing rooftop solar systems with a total capacity of 415 MW on 2.07 lakh houses across nine districts.As part of these works, according to the official data of the Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) on the portal of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), APSPDCL CMD Siva Sankar Lotheti said, “A capacity of 203.95 MW solar systems were installed for 1.01 lakh households so far.
