Ramanathapuram police arrested 447 trade union members who engaged in picketing in the district condemning the Union Government.Emphasising demands such as cancelling the anti-labour codes, ensuring a minimum support price for farmers’ produce, and refraining from privatising public sector undertakings, trade unions including CITU, LPF, Tamil Nadu Farmers Association, and Agricultural Workers Association staged picketing protests at Ramanathapuram, Mudukulathur, Thiruvadanai, Kamuthi, Sikkal, Rameswaram, and Thangachimadam.At a protest held in front of the Ramanathapuram Head Post Office, police arrested 99 people including 55 women. Across the district, police arrested a total of 447 people, including 188 women, who participated in the picketing.Similarly, 310 protesters were arrested in Sivaganga district.
