Traffic diversions have been introduced in Anthiyur from Monday (August 10, 2026) ahead of the annual festival at the Arulmigu Gurunathaswamy Temple at Pudupalayam, scheduled to be held from August 12 to 16.According to a release issued by the district police, heavy vehicles will be diverted from August 10 to facilitate the movement of devotees and prevent traffic congestion during the festival. Heavy vehicles travelling from Namakkal, Erode and Bhavani towards Karnataka via Annamaduvu and Anthiyur will be diverted through Annamaduvu, Patlur Four Roads, Vellithiruppur and Moolakadai.Vehicles travelling from Salem and Mettur towards Karnataka via Ammapettai, Annamaduvu and Anthiyur will be diverted through Patlur Four Roads, Vellithiruppur and Moolakadai. Heavy vehicles from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Sathyamangalam and Gobichettipalayam heading towards Karnataka via Athani–Kaikatti and Anthiyur will be diverted through Appakudal, Kadayampatti, Annamaduvu, Patlur Four Roads, Vellithiruppur and Moolakadai. Vehicles coming from Karnataka, Bargur and Moolakadai towards Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Tiruppur and Coimbatore via Anthiyur will be diverted through Moolakadai, Vellithiruppur and Patlur Four Roads.Temporary parking facilities for two- and four-wheelers have been arranged at several locations. Special government buses will operate between the Anthiyur weekly market and the banana market to facilitate the movement of devotees. Police assistance centres have been established at the banana market, Thanneerpandal and Vanakovil.
