While state media reported on Sunday, August 9, that Masoud Pezeshkian held another meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei, coinciding with the third anniversary of Pezeshkian’s presidency, an informed source told IranWire that no cabinet members were aware of the meeting between the president and the Supreme Leader.

This marks the second time media outlets have reported a meeting between Pezeshkian and the Islamic Republic’s third Supreme Leader, though no audio or visual evidence has been released from either meeting.

News of Sunday’s meeting was initially published on the official website of the Supreme Leader’s office before being republished by other state media outlets.

The release of this news comes after two informed sources previously told IranWire that Mojtaba Khamenei had not met with any cabinet members since the attack on the Supreme Leader’s compound, which resulted in the deaths of his father and family members. Both IranWire sources also reported that he was in critical physical condition.

In recent days, a message circulating across various groups on the domestic messaging platform “Eitaa” has urged supporters of the Islamic Republic to sacrifice sheep for the recovery of the third Supreme Leader.
