Latvian airline airBaltic will suspend flights from Vilnius to Berlin and Dubai and from Palanga to Tenerife during the upcoming winter season, while reducing the frequency of flights between Vilnius and Tallinn, the company told BNS.
The changes come as airBaltic faces financial difficulties, although the airline said its route network is regularly reviewed based on demand, seasonality, commercial considerations and overall market conditions.
“Within this ongoing review, airBaltic is making targeted adjustments to its upcoming winter flight schedule from Vilnius,” company spokesman Edvards Dalderis said in comments to BNS.
The changes include suspending the Vilnius-Berlin, Vilnius-Dubai and Palanga-Tenerife routes, as well as reducing the frequency of flights between Vilnius and Tallinn to better match capacity with expected winter travel demand, he said.
Dalderis said the changes affect only a small portion of airBaltic’s flights from Lithuania and that the country remains a strategically important market for the airline.
