A woman in her 80s was taken to hospital with “serious” injuries after she was involved in a crash with a truck while cycling in Co Kildare.The crash happened on the R414 Rathangan Road in Monasterevin town, Co Kildare, shortly before 10am on Monday.The incident took place on a section of the road known locally as the ‘Cow Pastures’.The woman received “serious injuries” in the crash and was brought to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin city for treatment, gardaí said.The driver of the truck was not injured.The road was closed for a forensic examination by Garda technical staff and diversions were put in place.Witnesses to the incident and those who may have relevant dashcam footage on the road in the period surrounding the incident have been asked to contact gardaí.[ Garda watchdog Fiosrú begins investigation into M50 collision that left nine injuredOpens in new window ]
