Mehdi Tabatabaei, Deputy for Communications and Information at the Office of President Masoud Pezeshkian, announced that Mohsen Rezaei has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) by presidential decree. Simultaneously, following Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr's resignation from the post, Tasnim News Agency reported his appointment as political advisor to Mojtaba Khamenei.

Tabatabaei stated that Rezaei replaced Zolqadr, the former SNSC Secretary, following Zolqadr's resignation.

Earlier, Iranian media reported the publication of a decree attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei appointing Mohsen Rezaei as the "Supreme Leader's Representative" to the Supreme National Security Council. That decree expressed gratitude for Zolqadr's "round-the-clock efforts," fueling expectations of his departure from the secretary position.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council is appointed by decree of the President, who simultaneously serves as the Council's chairman.

Following the announcement regarding Rezaei's appointment as the Supreme Leader's representative to the SNSC, Tasnim News Agency confirmed Zolqadr's appointment as political advisor to Mojtaba Khamenei.
