Following the kidnapping incident along the Okene-Auchi road, the Kogi State Police Command says that it has intensified rescue operation and a search for kidnapped victims with a coordinated deployment of Police and Military personnel to forest areas suspected to be hideouts of the perpetrators.
A press statement signed and issued by Saliu Oyiza Afusat, Police Public Relations Officer and was made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Sunday, indicated that the Command immediately, following the incessant kidnapping, had activated its rescue response and commenced intelligence -driven, bush-combing operations across identified forest corridors within the Okene –Ajokuta axis, particularly around the Ebiya Forest and adjoining areas.
The operation involves personnel from the Area Command, Okene; 77 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Okene; Okene Division; Adavi Division; Anti -Kidnapping Unit of the Kogi State Command; Violent Crime Response Unit; as well as detachments of the Nigerian Army operating from Forward Operating Bases within the area. The operation has also received operational support from the Edo State Police Command, including its Anti -Kidnapping Unit and other tactical personnel.
