Pirates were pushed into the deep embers of extra time in their 2-1 quarter-final victory over MTN8 debutants Durban City last Saturday in Soweto.
Sekhukhune United also got the better of KwaZulu-Natal outfit AmaZulu in a thrilling 4-3 win, which also needed extra time to separate the teams.
The second semi-final will see Mamelodi Sundowns face Golden Arrows, who sent Kaizer Chiefs packing after a 1-0 loss at FNB Stadium.
