The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that three suspected kidnappers who abducted five students of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapaade, Ogun State were neutralised in a gun duel with security operatives.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, confirmed this in a statement highlighting the police operational success across the country on Sunday.
Iniedu noted that following the rescue of the victims, the police anti-kidnapping unit and operatives of the Department of State Security trailed the kidnappers to their hideout.
He noted that the security team engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel during which three suspects were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
He stated, “Six Gateway ICT Polytechnic students who were kidnapped at Ipara were released unhurt following intensive security pressure.
