Gentailer Contact Energy's full-year net profit has climbed to $423 million, up 62 percent on its underlying earnings last year.The period includes the acquisition of Manawa Energy, which Contact said contributed to the uplift in earnings.Contact said the improved operating result was also driven by a significant lift in renewable generation output.It said it had operating free cash flow of $648m, up 49 percent on the previous year, driven by the acquisition, improved operating performance and a positive movement in working capital.The company also announced that it is working with CDC to explore a potential new data centre in Stratford Taranaki.Contact and CDC would now seek consent the proposed centre which would be built near the site of Contact's Taranaki combined cycle gas power plant that was retired earlier this year.Contact said the power that would be supplied under a long term contract supported by Contact's pipeline of geo-thermal, wind and solar development options.
