Industrial and energy group Metlen posted record operating profit, net profit and cash flow in the first half of 2026.
Specifically, turnover rose 11% compared to the same period in 2025, to €3.98 billion, of which €3.13 billion was generated by the group’s energy companies. Operating profits (EBITDA) rose 23% to €550 million from €445 million a year ago and net profit after taxes and minority rights also rose 23%, to €313 million.
High profits also led to an especially strong cash flow; operating cash flows exceeded €800 million in the first half of the year. At the same time, Metlen reduced its net debt by about €500 million and, as a result the net-borrowing-to-EBITDA ratio declined to 1.7, from 3.1 at the end of 2025.
Metlen Executive Chairman Evangelos Mytilineos made special mention of a deal with a US enterprise to sell it Metlen’s 25% production of gallium, a metal whose most important use is in gallium arsenide, a semiconductor compound used in, among other things, laser diodes and solar panels.
In the coming months other deals will be signed ensuring the sale of all of Metlen’s gallium output.
