Sorrow and outrage swept through the Efeyi-Utikpi Ugboju community in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday as residents gathered to conduct a mass burial for victims killed during a violent attack by armed herdsmen.
The victims were killed on Tuesday, July 28, when suspected armed herders attacked the Efeyi-Utikpi, an agrarian community in the Ugboju District of Otukpo.
The early morning raid left 15 people dead, several others injured, and homes destroyed.
The funeral service, which drew grieving relatives, community leaders, and clergy members, saw dozens of white caskets lined up in an open field while a Catholic bishop officiated the final rites.
