Knowing your rights is powerful. But enforcing them, that is where real change begins.
Many Nigerians suffer violations of their fundamental rights but do nothing about it. Not because they accept it, but because they believe going to court is too difficult, too expensive, or too slow.
This fear is understandable, but it is not the full picture.
The law has made it easier to enforce fundamental rights. Under the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, any person whose right has been violated, or is likely to be violated, can approach a High Court for protection.
