A 15-year-old boy was injured after an unexploded cracker burst when he was setting fire to a pile of garbage near his house at Nambiyur in Erode district on Sunday (August 8).The boy, from Anna Street in Semmandampalayam, Nambiyur, is a Class 11 student at the Government Higher Secondary School in Molapalayam.According to police, crackers were burst during a temple festival near the boy’s house a week ago. The remnants of the crackers had reportedly been gathered and kept near the house.The police said the boy was unaware of the unexploded cracker in the garbage when he set it on fire, triggering an explosion that left him injured. His relatives rescued him and admitted him to a private hospital in Gobichettipalayam, where he is undergoing treatment.The Kadathur police have registered a case and are conducting an inquiry.
