Troops of the 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Tsafe, have rescued 33 passengers abducted by terrorists while travelling through Magazu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Nigerian Army said the rescue operation was conducted at about 8:15 a.m. on August 8, 2026, following credible intelligence on the abduction.
According to the Army, the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made contact with the terrorists, who were moving the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.
The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon the passengers and flee into adjoining bushes.
