Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sharply criticized Senate Republicans after they confirmed Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, as U.S. attorney general.
'Excuse on a Silver Platter' In his post on X, Schumer said Republicans had "handed Trump an excuse on a silver platter" to continue what he called "pervasive, breathtaking corruption." He argued the appointment undermines efforts to combat corruption, writing, "If you want to wipe out corruption, you can't have the president's personal attorney as the attorney general.

He said every senator who backed the confirmation had "branded themselves as an enabler, too."
