A 15-year-old boy, who was arrested by Namakkal police in connection with a theft case, escaped from police custody in Salem on Friday (August 7, 2026).The Namakkal Town police arrested the minor, a resident of Musiri in the Tiruchi district, and produced him before the Namakkal Court. Based on the court’s order, the police took him to the observation home in Salem district court premises on Friday night.The minor, who came with the police in an autorickshaw, after reaching court premises managed to flee from the spot. The police searched for the boy, but could not trace him. Following this, the Namakkal police lodged a complaint with the Hasthampatti police.
