A wall at a private parking facility in Deoli area collapsed following incessant rainfall, damaging vehicles.

The national capital received light to moderate rain on Saturday, with Safdarjung weather station recording 98.7 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, the third-highest 24-hour August rainfall since 2011, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data. It received another 4.4 mm till 5.30 p.m. Incessant rainfall over the past four days has also increased the flow of drains and other water channels, resulting in several incidents. In southeast Delhi, an 18-year-old man was swept away in the Priyanka Camp Nala in Madanpur Khadar around 8 p.m. on Friday. Ankit, a resident of Ali Vihar, was returning home from Noida with his friend Manish when he slipped into the drain and was swept away by the strong flow of water, police said. A PCR call was received at the Sarita Vihar police station following which a police team was sent to the spot. The police, Delhi Disaster Management Authority and Delhi Fire Services (DFS) continued search operations on Saturday, but Ankit had not been found. Wall collapse
Rain also resulted in a wall collapse of a private parking facility in South Delhi’s Deoli Gaon Nai Basti, damaging eight vehicles. No one was injured, said police.Residents said around 5 p.m. on Friday they heard a loud noise before finding several vehicles buried under the rubble. Sewer pipeline work was under way in the area, and residents raised concerns that the work, along with heavy rain, may have weakened the ground. The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained. The DFS said they also received 18 calls about fallen trees till 7 p.m. on Saturday.
