Johannesburg A were left to rue a dramatic late collapse on Saturday as Mangaung fought back from nine goals down to snatch a 48-48 draw with the final play of the match at the Spar National Netball Championships in Cape Town.

The result left four-time defending champions Johannesburg with one win, one loss and a draw after three matches, while Tshwane emerged as the only unbeaten team left in the senior A- division after beating hosts Cape Town 59-52.

Johannesburg appeared firmly in control against Mangaung, taking a 39-30 lead into the final quarter, but the Free State side produced a remarkable fightback to earn a share of the spoils with the last action of the match.

Johannesburg coach Elsje Jordaan admitted her side had let an opportunity slip.
