Berkshire Hathaway committed $10 billion to Alphabet through a private placement and agreed to acquire homebuilder Taylor Morrison for roughly $6.8 billion in equity, deploying nearly $17 billion in a matter of weeks.
The Alphabet bet
Berkshire’s $10 billion commitment to Alphabet came through a private placement split evenly between two share classes. The company purchased $5 billion in Class A shares at $351.81 per share and $5 billion in Class C shares at $348.20 per share, with the deal announced on June 1, 2026.
The investment is part of Alphabet’s larger $80 billion equity raise designed to fund its AI infrastructure buildout.
Rather than buying shares on the open market, Berkshire negotiated a direct deal with Alphabet.
