Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank also have sons five-year-old August and three-year-old Ernest, who are 13th and 14th in the line of succession respectively.‌With the birth of Eugenie’s daughter, both Prince Edward and Princess Anne have been pushed down in the line of succession, despite the decades of tireless work on behalf of their older brother King Charles. Edward is now 16th in line for the throne, while Anne - who has often been dubbed ‘the hardest working royal’ - is now 19th in line for the throne.‌‌And according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, it is time for the line of succession to be amended as the number of working royals has drastically decreased, while Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor also remains in line for the throne despite his arrest in February.Jennie told the Mirror: “I do think the line of succession should be revised and shortened. There’s something rather ridiculous about the hard-working and popular Duke of Edinburgh being knocked down the succession line to make way for Eugenie’s third baby.“And it’s preposterous to think that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is still eighth in the line of succession. I think the heir and their children should be enough – or perhaps, for safety, just make it the first five.”‌The first five members of the family in the line of succession are Prince William, his three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - followed by Prince Harry, who quit his royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California.Jennie previously told the Mirror that as the line of succession is seemingly infinite, it gets to a point where it is largely symbolic, and it is now time to shake up the line to the throne, as several non-working members still hold places.‌In March, Jennie said: “I think this long line of succession has become rather ridiculous. Very few people have any idea that someone called Athena Mapelli Mozzi or Ernest Brooksbank are 11th and 14th in line to the throne. Personally, I think they should also remove Harry and his children, plus Beatrice, Eugenie and their children from the line of succession.”“I once made a television programme which showed that, in essence, we are all related to royalty and therefore all in the line of succession. It becomes silly. So I think we should simply have William and his children, followed by the much respected Princess Royal and then Prince Edward.”‌After Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest in February - in which he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and held in a Norfolk police station for 12 hours before being released under investigation - discussions began about removing the disgraced royal from the line of succession.Earlier this year, sources suggested the government would begin consultation after the conclusion of multiple police investigations into allegations surrounding Andrew’s conduct, with all 14 realms also needing to agree to the monumental change, which can only be enacted by an Act of Parliament.‌The UK government, as well as the prime ministers of Australia, New Zealand and Canada, all voiced their support for the change, given the allegations that arose from Andrew’s connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has vehemently denied all allegations against him.And as for Jennie Bond, she believes removing Andrew from the line of succession is a no-brainer. “Of course Andrew should be removed from the line of succession,” she said. “If you are not fit to be a prince, you’re certainly not fit to be monarch.
