US retail giant Target is steadily expanding the strategic role of its India operations, with its Bengaluru centre evolving beyond a traditional back-office function into a deeply integrated part of the company's global business, according to Andrea Zimmerman, Senior Vice President and President, Target in India.

Speaking about the company's India operations, Zimmerman said Target in India has grown significantly over the past 21 years, both in terms of workforce and the value it delivers to the global organisation.

"Target is a US retailer that generated $105 billion in net sales in 2025 and operates more than 2,000 stores across all 50 US states with over 400,000 team members.

We operate one very special, highly integrated second headquarters, and that is Target in India right here in Bengaluru," Zimmerman said.

She said the Bengaluru centre employs around 5,700 professionals with multidisciplinary capabilities spanning technology, merchandising, store design, marketing, finance, and operations.
