Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has identified terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, separatist agitations and transnational organised crime as the major security threats confronting the country.

Shaibu stated this on Friday at the graduation of 1,182 Special Forces troops from the 10th batch of the Advanced Infantry Training Programme, where he also charged the soldiers to uphold human rights and the rule of law while confronting the country’s security challenges.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the COAS reminded the troops to respect the rule of law, protect the rights of civilians and strictly observe the rules of engagement during operations.

He said, “I charge you to remain morally upright and conduct yourselves in a manner that reflects the values of the Nigerian Army.”
