MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Loren Legarda and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, both facing complaints of plunder and graft in connection with solar power projects, have left the country, National Bureau of Investigation Director Melvin Matibag and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday.
Sen. Erwin Tulfo said Legarda was on “medical leave” and had informed Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian that she would be away from Aug. 3 to Aug. 5.
According to Matibag, the bureau’s records showed that Leviste and Legarda left on Aug. 2 for Hong Kong, but the senator would be headed to France, her final destination.
