BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Firefighters responded to two weather-related incidents involving a fallen pine tree and toppled bamboo in separate parts of Baguio City on Friday, Aug. 7, as persistent rains continued to affect the city.
At around 1:05 p.m., personnel from the Baguio City Fire Station were dispatched to Youngland Tower in Camp 7 after a large pine tree toppled onto a structure. The fallen tree damaged a portion of the roof, prompting firefighters to conduct clearing operations using chainsaws to remove the trunk and branches and eliminate remaining hazards.
At around 1:30 p.m., personnel from the Baguio City Fire Station Irisan–Pucay Fire Sub-Station were sent to a property along Purok 5, Mang-os Road in Barangay Irisan following reports of fallen bamboo. Firefighters carried out clearing operations to remove the bamboo and secure the area.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said its personnel immediately assessed both incidents and conducted the necessary response to ensure the safety of residents and nearby communities. The Baguio City Fire Station added that it remains on standby to respond to emergencies and other weather-related incidents as the southwest monsoon (Habagat) continues to bring rain to the city.
