The trading card platform takes fans’ pursuit of Derek Jeter, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joe Burrow memorabilia quite literally in this fun spot.
Most baseball, basketball and football fans have been used to seeing retired New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter, newly minted Miami Heat recruit Giannis Antetokounmpo and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow on run via the courts and fields of their respective sports.
But for Join the Chase, the new campaign for trading card marketplace Arena Club, the star players ramp up the action and add in a little drama. In the fun spot, created by Orchard and directed by Fleur Fortuné, the former “Mr. November” and the “Greek Freak” tap into their thespian aspirations — hysterically flipping food carts and tables — to dodge overzealous fans in hot pursuit of their MVPs. The high-speed foot chases are eventually revealed to be a hilarious metaphor for the great lengths fans go through to get their hands on rare player cards, with the platform, cofounded by Jeter, being served as a safer (and ostensibly and less strenuous) solution.
Even if you’re not a collector, the sight of a Jeter body double leaping over tables and Burrow’s deer-caught-in-headlights look are thoroughly entertaining to watch.
