Stephanie Davis has admitted that she would jump at the chance to return to Coronation Street, even though she'd like her next project to be something different19:42, 07 Aug 2026Stephanie Davis has admitted she would love to return to Coronation Street. The actress jointed the ITV soap as Courtney Vance in 2023 and left after her character came to the end of an affair with Aadi Alahan a matter of months later. But now, Stephanie, 33, who also previously played the part of Sinead O'Connor on Channel 4's Hollyoaks on and off from 2010 until 2019, has admitted that whilst she would like her next job to be "completely different," she would like to have the chance to appear in the other major soaps. She said: "Well, I absolutely love Coronation Street. Like, just down to the professionalism of the cast, the crew, everyone who is involved day to day, the people on the front desk, the cleaners. Everyone is just so amazing there."She told the Daily Star: "The next project that I do, I want it to be a completely different type of character. I'd love to go back to Corrie but then I also watch EastEnders and Emmerdale and I think I may as well tick them off the list. People do [move round], you see it, don't you?"When Stephanie, who also has Samuel, 19 months, with ex-partner Joe McKalroy, joined Coronation Street, she explained how she'd just got a new agent and expressed a desire to work on the world's longest-running TV soap only for a call to come in from ITV a matter of days later.Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she explained: "It was fate, it's crazy. I took time out to be a mum to my little boy Caben. I told my partner that I needed to get back to work and do what I love again, I said I was gonna get a new agent, have a fresh start."So I applied for a new agent and on that day I went to meet her. She said what do you wanna do, and I said I wanna do Corrie. I went home. It must have been two days later, my cousin was [talking] to me and I said I had this gut feeling, I wanna do Coronation Street."As she was speaking the phone started ringing. It was my agent. I answered it and she said, 'you're never gonna believe this. A part has just come up for Corrie and it's been written for you'.Stephanie came to public prominence in her late teens when she competed on Andrew Lloyd Webber's BBC talent search Over the Rainbow, which was looking for an unknown to play the part of Dorothy in a West End production of The Wizard of Oz.The series was eventually won by Danielle Hope and whilst the majority of the contestants went on to enjoy careers in theatre, Stephanie found immediate TV success when she joined Hollyoaks just months after she was eliminated from the competition.Article continues belowShe then appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018 alongside the likes of John Partridge, who mentored her as a judge on Over the Rainbow, Gemma Collins, David Gest and Daniella Westbrook. She struck up a relationship with housemate Jeremy McConnell, with whom she went on to have son Caben-Albi, nine, but they split permanently less than a year after leaving the house.Like this story?
