WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange received support from comparable oils on Friday as traders squared their positions ahead of the weekend.
Crude oil prices were slightly higher as markets await any signs of progress towards a new deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Chicago soyoil and European rapeseed made gains, while Malaysian palm oil was lower.
Most of Alberta will see sunny skies Friday with its northern and central parts seeing cooler-than-normal temperatures. Northern and central Saskatchewan will be rainy, while the southern part of the province, as well as southern Manitoba, will be sunny.
The Canadian dollar was up more than three-tenths of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
About 38,000 canola contracts have traded at 10:15 a.m. CDT.
