WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange made modest gains on Friday morning despite mixed sentiment in comparable oils.

Flare-ups between the United States and Iran were balanced out by the International Energy Agency shedding projected crude oil demand for 2026 by 1 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, Chicago soyoil was higher while European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were down.

Heat warnings are in effect for the southern halves of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Southeast Saskatchewan is expected to see humidex values reach 45 degrees Celsius this weekend. Rain and thunderstorms are expected for most of Alberta and Saskatchewan today, while Lethbridge will see sunny skies and a high of 31 C. Southern Manitoba will also be hot and sunny.

The Canadian dollar was up less than one-tenth of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
