The Federal Government has unveiled the National Digital Training Academy (DTA), a flagship initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with advanced digital skills and globally recognised certifications, as part of efforts to build a competitive technology workforce and accelerate the country’s digital economy.
Maruf Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, announced the initiative during the graduation ceremony of 928 beneficiaries of the one-year professional diploma programme under the World Bank-assisted Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The programme, implemented in collaboration with Baze University, trained participants in emerging technology fields including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Data Analytics.
According to a statement by Ikharo Attah, Special Adviser (Media and Communications) to the Minister of Education, the Digital Training Academy will be implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy through the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme
Alausa said the Academy represents the next phase of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for education, innovation and human capital development, with a focus on preparing Nigerian youths for opportunities in the global digital economy.
