The Federal Government has launched a Train-the-Trainers programme aimed at strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Nigeria as part of efforts to bridge the country’s skills gap and improve youth employability.
The initiative, implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the National Board for Technical Education, is training technical educators from federal and selected state technical colleges in pedagogy and assessment.
The programme is part of a broader collaboration between Nigeria and the Institute of Education and Educational Services in Singapore following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this year to enhance technical education delivery.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday, the National Project Coordinator of the Special Programmes Operations and Implementation Unit in the Office of the Minister of Education, Adebayo Onigbanjo, said the programme marks the beginning of broader reforms to improve the quality of technical instruction nationwide.
