UK support for South Africa's Just Energy Transition efforts helps municipalities affected by the country's shift away from coal while strengthening the delivery of essential municipal services.

Electricity and Energy Deputy Minister Alexandra Abrahams has met with a delegation led by the United Kingdom (UK) High Commissioner to South Africa.

The discussion focused on UK support and co-operation for South Africa’s Just Energy Transition.

Abrahams said: “Today’s meeting has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to supporting South Africa’s Just Energy Transition.”

“The technical and financial support of the UK helps to advance the transition with the goal of protecting jobs, increasing energy security, expanding access, and lowering electricity prices while reducing dependence on fossil fuels,” he added.
