U.S. stock futures were in positive territory Friday morning as investors braced for July's closely watched employment data. Among the major futures contracts, the Nasdaq $NDAQ 100 posted the strongest move, up 0.5%, with S&P 500 futures adding 0.2% and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures tacking on 41 points, or 0.1%.

Thursday's retreat — which saw the Dow shed more than 460 points, or 0.9%, ending a five-session run higher, while the S&P 500 lost 0.2% — did little to derail what is shaping up as a second straight positive week for major indexes. The Nasdaq is tracking toward its strongest weekly showing since May, with semiconductor shares powering much of the advance. The iShares Semiconductor ETF has gained more than 5% over the course of the week.
