Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday issued an advisory informing the passengers of security checks at all Delhi Metro stations to be intensified from August 9 to August 16 as part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of Independence Day.The additional security screening, to be carried out by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), may lead to longer queues at some Metro stations, particularly during peak hours.In a security update advisory, the DMRC urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance and keep extra travel time in hand during the period."Security checks for passengers will be further intensified by CISF across Metro stations starting from August 9," the DMRC said.The Delhi Metro authority also requested commuters to cooperate with security personnel during the enhanced screening process.— OfficialDMRC (@OfficialDMRC) Earlier on Thursday, the DCP Central Delhi team held a meeting with various stakeholders to strengthen security arrangements ahead of Independence Day 2026."Team of @DCPCentralDelhi organised a coordination meeting with members of the Eyes & Ears Scheme, Prahari volunteers, car dealers, cyber café owners, SIM card dealers, and hotel & guest house owners to enhance coordination with community stakeholders and strengthen security arrangements ahead of Independence Day–2026," DCP Central Delhi said in a post on X.Special CP (Law & Order), Zone-I, Joint CP (Central Range), and DCP, Central District also attended the meeting and emphasised heightened vigilance, timely sharing of information, and active public participation to ensure a safe, secure, and peaceful Independence Day celebrations.
