Delhi Metro Rail Corporation suspended entry and exit at 16 stations todayNEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday suspended entry and exit at 16 metro stations across the national capital from 7.30am, claiming ‘security reasons’.In a post on X, DMRC said the decision was taken due to security concerns.While passengers will not be able to enter or exit at the affected stations, interchange facilities will continue to remain operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.The stations closed for entry and exit are:Lok Kalyan MargRajiv Chowk Patel ChowkRamakrishna Ashram MargBarakhambha Road Supreme Court Seva TeerthJanpath, Mandi HouseCentral SecretariatITO, Delhi GateIndraprasthaKhan Market Jor Bagh Shivaji StadiumThe closures come as security has been intensified across central Delhi following the ongoing agitation led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and the CJP over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and demands for accountability in the education system.Large numbers of police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed around Parliament, Jantar Mantar and other sensitive locations.Authorities have also enforced prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across the New Delhi district.The CJP protest entered another day on Thursday, with supporters continuing their sit-in at Jantar Mantar after Sunday’s “Sansad Chalo” march witnessed clashes between protesters and police.DMRC has advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and said normal services at the affected stations will resume only after further instructions.
