Altay Bayindir has joined Celta Vigo on a season-long loan for the 2026/27 campaign, ending a frustrating spell at Manchester United where he managed just 17 appearances across all competitions since his arrival in September 2023.
The deal, finalized around August 5, 2026, includes an option for Celta to make the move permanent for approximately £3.5 million, or around €4 million. Celta will cover Bayindir’s full salary during the loan period, along with performance-related bonuses. Manchester United have retained a sell-on clause if Celta eventually decides to buy.
A career stuck in neutral at United
Bayindir arrived at Manchester United in September 2023 for £4.3 million. At 28, he is a Turkish international who made 116 appearances for Fenerbahçe between 2019 and 2023 before earning his move to England. He began his professional career at Ankaragücü before joining Fenerbahçe, where he became the club’s number one goalkeeper.
