Richard Pelham/Getty ImagesAug. 7, 2026 Updated 5:53 am EDTEngland international Ivan Toney has been charged with assault after an incident at a Soho nightclub last December.London’s Metropolitan Police on Friday confirmed that the 30-year-old had been charged with assault causing bodily harm and will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.The alleged incident took place at a nightclub on Wardour Street on December 6. Toney was initially arrested on December 7 and was released on bail while police made enquiries.
The striker featured for England at the World Cup over the summer and plays his club football for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.Toney has spent the majority of his career playing in England, coming through the ranks at Northampton Town before moving to Newcastle United and then Peterborough United.He is best known for the four years he spent at Brentford, which included finishing as the Championship’s top scorer as they secured promotion via the play-offs in 2020-21. He scored 72 times in 141 appearances for Brentford before moving to Saudi Arabia in 2024.The new Saudi Pro League campaign begins on August 13, while England return to action during the season’s first international break, which begins on September 21.The English FA has been approached for comment.
