Alley Cats is available on the platform from today (August 7).‌Created, written and co-directed by Gervais, the adult animation series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of society. The unlikely feline gang seek some kind of companionship while ruminating on everyday life.‌According to its synopsis, it is packed with Gervais’ signature style of heart and social commentary that his fans have come to expect and enjoy.With its release being so anticipated, viewers have started to watch the show as soon as it has become available. However, they could not help but notice something glaring just minutes into their binge watch.‌That appears to be to do with the dialogue between the characters, for two main reasons. One that they don't seem to be having conversations typically expected of cat characters.Secondly and more importantly for some, that the lines include excessive swearing. One fan admitted: "I watched 5 mins of it, the dialogue is actually painfully bad."While another put forward that they actually kept count of the worst swear word repeatedly used. They said: "60 C bombs in 2 episodes, genuinely not even joking."‌Someone else confessed: "I genuinely tried to give it a shot, maybe, just maybe it could’ve been tolerable or slightly enjoyable but b****y hell it really is just effin’ and jeffin’ and sex references, I watched about 5 minutes and gave in, dreadful."However, not all fans felt the same way as some viewers actually enjoyed the expletive dialogue. One person said: "If anything, I don’t think Alley Cats has enough swearing."‌Another viewer said: "Just watched all episodes of Alley Cats with my daughter. Never laughed and cried at the same time since After Life. Thanks @rickygervais for your amazing story telling ability and reminding us what makes us human even if it's using an animated cat to to tell us. 10/10."While another fan added: "Binged @rickygervais Alley Cats..... Funny and wonderfully sad.
