According to the latest forecast from the Islamic Republic of Iran Meteorological Organization (IRIMO), weather patterns across Iran will remain unchanged through Thursday, August 6, and Friday, August 7. A massive, extreme heat dome continues to blanket the southern, southwestern, western, and central regions of the country.
Meteorologists project that peak temperatures will continue to affect Khuzestan, Ilam, Bushehr, southern Kerman, Hormozgan, and parts of Fars Province, with localized highs reaching or exceeding 50°C (122°F).
Residents in Khuzestan report that ambient heat routinely surpasses official meteorological figures. An Abadan resident noted that while temperatures in the shade reach 50°C, extreme humidity and intense solar radiation drive the heat index significantly higher. Local citizens allege that government authorities intentionally refrain from officially declaring temperatures above 50°C to avoid statutory provisions requiring the mandatory closure of government offices and public institutions.
Despite official assurances regarding power grid stability, residents across southern provinces report persistent daily electricity outages. These blackouts frequently cause high-pressure water pumps to fail, resulting in simultaneous water supply disruptions amid extreme heat conditions.
