Several people were killed and others injured in a shooting at a high school in Thailand's Nonthaburi province, just north of the capital city of Bangkok, local authorities said.

Initially, Reuters reported that at least one teacher was killed in the shooting incident and that the suspected gunman, who was a teenage student at the school, was also dead. Nonthaburi's Provincial Police Commander Dechrapee Kongdee told the agency the gunman had committed suicide.

Later, officials from the Ministry of Education announced that four people, including teachers and students, had been killed in a school shooting.

The incident took place at the Debsirin Nonthaburi School in ​the ‌Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi.

Students, teachers and other workers were evacuated from school as authorities deployed police officers, rescue workers and emergency doctors to the scene.
