In August 2026, South Africa marks the 70th anniversary of Women's Month under the theme: “Empowered Women Empower The Nation”, while also recognising the important contributions of its women to social development. In October 2025, China and UN Women co-hosted the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing. Leaders and heads of more than 110 countries and international organisations convened in Beijing to deliberate on major initiatives for promoting women's development worldwide. The Meeting is highly consistent with the core spirit championed by South Africa's Women's Month theme emphasising that the all-round development of women concerns not only individual destinies, but also national development and the shared future for mankind.
