EFF leader Julius Malema and ANC MP Cameron Dugmore clashed during Section 89 Impeachment Committee proceedings, with the ANC caucus later calling for adherence to parliamentary decorum.
The African National Congress (ANC) Parliamentary Caucus has condemned what it described as Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s conduct during virtual proceedings of Parliament’s Section 89 Impeachment Committee, saying Members of Parliament must uphold discipline, respect and parliamentary decorum.
The ANC caucus said that while Parliament was carrying out “one of its most important constitutional responsibilities”, MPs were expected to conduct themselves in a manner that protects the dignity of the institution.
The criticism follows an exchange during the committee’s proceedings involving Malema and ANC MP Cameron Dugmore on Wednesday.
The ANC said Dugmore had called on Malema to comply with Parliament’s Rules and established parliamentary decorum by addressing Members in the appropriate parliamentary manner.
