A hotel boss has appeared in court on charges of safety breaches following the death of an X Factor star's fiancé, almost exactly two years after the tragedy occured20:37, 06 Aug 2026A hotel boss has appeared in court charged with health and safety breaches following the death of an X Factor star's fiancé.Jaymi Hensley, who shot to fame on the ITV talent show in 2011 when he competed as boyband Union J, was engaged to stylist Olly Marmon but was dealt with tragedy when his partner fell from the third floor of the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northants and died at the age of 33 in August 2024.Despite every best effort from the emergency services, who made it onto the scene at 11:30pm that night, Marmon died from his injuries. Now, hotel owner Marcus de Lannoy Holden has appeared in court charged with health and safety breaches.Holden, 57, of Shennington, Banbury, Oxon, made an appearance at Northampton Magistrates' Court in July after it was alleged that the windows posed a risk to guests.Court documents explained the charge as: "Failing to ensure that windows capable of being opened were likely to be opened, closed or adjusted in a manner which did not expose anyone to a risk to their health or safety."A second charge read: "Contravening a requirement imposed by an improvement notice by failing to undertake a risk assessment of the condition and safe operation of all windows within the hotel, to eliminate the risk of people falling from them."The court also heard that Holden has been charged with "failing to ensure the health and safety of his employees by neglect. Failing to ensure that his employees were not exposed to risks to their health and safety."Holden entered no plea and was granted bail in order to obtain legal advice, with the case having been adjourned to October.Olly was a hairdresser and recently worked alongside his stepdad gardening. He met Jaymi when he was 18 years old. The couple were only weeks away from their wedding after 15 years together.His family paid a touching tribute to him following the tragedy, with his mum Julie and stepdad Steve Peacock explaining "words cannot express the devastation and heartbreak" they are feeling. Julie wrote: "Oliver was so caring, loving, quiet and always put others before himself", adding: "He touched many lives and everyone he met fell in love with him."Olly's brother Ben called his younger brother his "little ray of sunshine" and added: "You are my best friend. You radiate joy and excitement to all around you. You are full of creativity and spontaneous ideas for fun."You are the light of happiness in every room.
